O'ReillyAuto Parts, which began as
O’Reilly Automotive, Inc., was founded in 1957 by a
father-and-son team, C.F. and Chub
O’Reilly, together with 11 other people who shared
their vision of offering great customer service and auto parts
availability.
They
opened their 1st
store in Springfield, MO, and for the next 7 years, they worked hard,
focusing on sales and slow and steady growth. In fact, just after
their first year of operation, the company achieved a total sales of
$700,000, and by 1961, business was really great with sales reaching
$1.3 million. Then in July 1965, a second store opened, and by 1975,
the company proudly had 9 stores, with annual sales of $7 million.
That
was just the start of O'Reilly's journey to success, and all because
of the spirit of teamwork which has been from the company's
humble beginning to the present, an essential ingredient in their
drive to performance. The values instilled by the founders
