Pittsburgh-based
grocer Giant Eagle, the nation's largest food retailers and food
distributors with approximately $8.2 billion in annual sales, has
recently opened its expanded and remodeled store in Dublin, Ohio, a
94,000-square-foot store at 6700 Perimeter Loop Road.
The
project started as a $14 million renovation and expansion of Like
some other regional grocers, Giant Eagle is trying to be the store of
choice for all types of shoppers, from the affluent customers like
those in the Dublin area, to the middle-class and value-focused
shoppers.a former Big Bear store in late 2010. It became a bigger
project and was transformed into Giant Eagle's upscale Market
District concept during the past year, said spokesman Brock Schmaltz.
Its first Ohio Market District which opened in 2011 is in the
Kingsdale Center in Upper Arlington. A third store is planned for
Solon, in northeastern Ohio, next month.
Brian
Ferrier, the grocer’s regional director of operations in central
Ohio, said that the new store will focus on high-quality foods,
innovating, growing in, and with the market. Like some other regional
grocers, Giant Eagle is trying to be the store of choice for all
types of shoppers, from the affluent customers like those in the
Dublin area, to the middle-class and value-focused shoppers.
Meanwhile,
the projected opening of a new Giant Eagle store at Grandview Yard
has been pushed back to the middle of next year, because Giant Eagle
has decided to "slow down a bit to go through a redesign and
upgrade" of its plans for the outlet.
